31st SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

Questions for the Week:

FIRST READING: DEUTERONOMY 6:2-6

Moses taught the Israelites the importance of passing on the faith and keeping the Jewish prayer, the great Shema (“Hear, O Israel...”). What are some faith traditions your family practices?

SECOND READING: HEBREWS 7:23-28

In Hebrews we hear that Jesus is the eternal and perfect high priest who intercedes for us before God. Do you have a friend or co-worker who needs you to pray for them this week?

GOSPEL: MARK 12:28-34

Jesus and the scribe find common ground on agreeing that the two greatest commandments are to love God and our neighbor. Do you value making peace with people you disagree with?

A Word from Fr Danny:

The commandment to love the Lord our God is introduced with the imperative 'you MUST,' followed by four 'ALL’s': heart, soul, mind, and strength. This should encourage us, as Christ’s words not only make this command possible but also provide a way through the common idea, often promoted by spiritual people, that to love properly you must move from the head to the heart. Here, we see our Savior telling us to love with all our mind. How do we do this? Perhaps a starting point is to take the words of Christ seriously.

"It was a good relaxing way to learn about God and Jesus in a loving space. It was also a lovely experience for making friends and enjoying some laughter and I would like to attend again."

Catherine and Dennis Hancock host this fantastic group who deepen their faith through watching great Catholic video content and exploring it through discussion.  Everyone is welcome to come and join them. If you're interested, contact Catherine: 027 662 8996.
