32nd SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Questions for the Week:
FIRST READING: 1 KINGS 17:10-16
We hear how the Lord spared the widow and her son from starvation and death in the days of the prophet Elijah. How do you think society can best help those on the margins who are really struggling?
SECOND READING: HEBREWS 9:24-28
Hebrews teaches us that Jesus’s death took away the sins of many and that at his Second Coming, Jesus will bring eternal salvation to all believers. When do you imagine Jesus will return?
GOSPEL: MARK 12:41-44
Jesus praises the widow who gives to the poor despite her own poverty. Do you have family or friends who likewise selflessly give to others?

A Word from Fr Danny:
How strange it is that our Lord commends the poor widow in today’s Gospel for giving all she has into the temple treasury, presumably for its upkeep, yet only two verses later, He says, 'Do you see these great buildings? Not a single stone will be left on another; everything will be destroyed.' What does this reveal about what truly touches the heart of Christ? Is there something more that this woman is now able to offer to God that the other, wealthier donors are unable to give? What is it, and how are we called to do likewise, especially as we approach the Holy of Holies each Sunday for Holy Communion?

Alpha isn't just a course to learn about Christiantiy. It's an opportunity to build community and to develop or deepen our relationship with God. Not sure about it? Here's some feedback from our last Alpha Course in July:
"It was a good relaxing way to learn about God and Jesus in a loving space. It was also a lovely experience for making friends and enjoying some laughter and I would like to attend again."
Catherine and Dennis Hancock host this fantastic group who deepen their faith through watching great Catholic video content and exploring it through discussion. Everyone is welcome to come and join them. If you're interested, contact Catherine: 027 662 8996.
Don’t our gardens look beautiful?! If you’re keen to lend a hand on a casual basis, to pull a few weeds, come along on a Wednesday anytime between 12noon and 3pm and join some of our gardening team.
Note the change in time this Friday!
This Friday we will be joined by Sue Beadle,, an experienced counsellor with over 15 years in the field. She has also led Ignatian meditation, guiding others in spiritual reflection. Sue will be sharing her journey of ‘listening to Jesus,’ as we focus on the story of Mary and Martha.
Join us as we explore the story to deepen our own listening and connection.
