2nd Sunday of Lent

Questions for the Week:

FIRST READING: GENESIS 15:5-12,17-18

The Lord God promised Abram land and many descendants because Abram put his faith in the Lord. Why do you have faith in God?

SECOND READING: PHILIPPIANS 3:17-4:1

Paul teaches the Corinthians that upon Jesus’ return, he will change our bodies to conform with his glorified body. Can you imagine what a glorified body will be like?

GOSPEL: LUKE 9:28-36

As Peter, James and John witnessed Jesus’ transfiguration, they heard God say, “This is my chosen Son; listen to him.”  As the season of Lent continues, what do you hope to hear from God?

A Word from Fr Danny:

In the Transfiguration, the glory of God was shown to Peter, James, and John. Which was the more natural state for Christ? Did He have to do something extra for His glory to be manifest, or was it a matter of restraint to be seen without it? The question for us is how this applies when we receive the glorified Body and Blood of Christ in Holy Communion. The Transfiguration offers a glimpse into how we can receive our Lord. Peter says, 'It is wonderful to be here,' and talks about building a tent for our Lord. When we receive the Eucharist, we become a tent, a tabernacle for Christ. But that’s not the end. In that moment, the Father says, 'This is my Son, the Chosen One. Listen to Him,' and the disciples fall silent. Our thanksgiving after Holy Communion is an invitation to silence, where Christ speaks to us heart to heart.
